About Maker Compass Studio
Maker Compass Studio is a project by three longtime friends and collaborators with decades of experience across brand strategy, storytelling, photography, filmmaking, and design. Built on friendship, mutual respect, and a shared love of meaningful work, we create videos that tell our clients’ stories and help them connect with their audiences. Our approach combines high production value with an intuitive, collaborative process that gives small and growing clients access to the kind of world-class creative typically reserved for big-budget brands. Whether helping a small business refine its message or shaping an emotionally resonant campaign, our collaborative process and combined expertise result in thoughtful, compelling videos crafted with care.
Each member brings a blend of skills to the table, and we’re united by a passion for creating work that connects, communicates, and moves people. At the root of it all is a belief in the power of design that works—not just in how it looks, but in what it does.
Together, we collaborate with makers, growing brands and dreamers to turn ideas into great stories.

Tom Schreiber
Tom Schreiber is a storyteller, designer, brand strategist, and artist with a background that bridges the commercial, cultural, and personal. He’s worked with top creative teams at ELLE Magazine, Publicis, Digitas, and Robert Half, and has collaborated with icons like the Pillsbury Doughboy, the Honey Nut Cheerios Bee, Milton Glaser, Robert Rauschenberg and Louise Bourgeois. His experience spans art direction, graphic design, painting, conversation and interviews—with each discipline informing the next.
As a regular at Bay Area art and maker markets, Tom is deeply embedded in the small business and creative community. He specializes in helping clients uncover and articulate the heart of their brand story—distilling it into design that resonates and messages that stick.
He believes in making things with intention: whether it’s a visual identity, a piece of art, or a campaign, it can be crafted to connect, inform, and inspire. His work is guided by a lifelong STEAM mindset and a belief that creativity isn’t so much a talent as it is a practice—and one that everyone has access to.

Rory Earnshaw
Rory Earnshaw is a photographer and videographer who brings passion, fun and a fine art sensibility to any project he works on.
With roots in Europe and a home base in the Bay Area, Rory brings a global perspective to every project he works on.
Thriving on collaboration, craftsmanship and authenticity, his ability to tell a story visually is as important to his technique.
With a strong background in lighting and composition Rory is comfortable in any environment, from large corporate offices to intimate artist studios.
When not busy with his commercial assignments Rory spends time working on his personal photography, which he exhibits with Corden Potts Gallery.

Rob Keil
Rob Keil works as an associate creative director, art director, author, and filmmaker who sees marketing as both a puzzle and a craft. His advertising career started at McCann-Erickson, with early work on brands like Wells Fargo and Safeway, and grew to include campaigns for LucasArts, The San Francisco Giants, and a wide variety of industries from real estate to consumer packaged goods to nonprofits. His strength lies in finding and conveying a client’s unique story and product benefits, and delivering these elegantly across multiple platforms.
Rob handles all post production duties for Maker Compass Studio. As an editor, he knows how to use the language of film to craft engaging and compelling narratives. His role also includes color grading, graphics and sound mixing. The results are always intentional, visually rich and emotionally resonant.
Rob loves making things—from a storyboard to a finished film—and is driven by the challenge of creating work that not only looks good but delivers a compelling message that moves an audience to action.
